Dreams as Palimpsest

 The dream provides a seed for creating collage/painting/doodling in your visual art journal;

 a dreamzine for your soul to read back to you,

a kind of graphic magazine of the psyche.

In-person Make Your Own DreamZine workshops coming up in Santa Fe, NM, 4th Sundays:

Below are some pages in my own DreamZine that I worked on from my bed after I had an unfortunate fall and fractured leg which led to cancellation of classes in February and March. Now, fortunately I am better, healing and back walking and carrying bins of art supplies! Nothing like setting up a little art and writing place on a breakfast tray during the healing process.
The theme of these new pages was about palimpsest: a manuscript or papyrus which has been written on more than once, with the earlier writing incompletely scraped off or partially erased but partially legible. This reminded of dreams that are partly remembered, or fresh grief that arrives with old grief in tow. It was freeing to play with writing in colored pencil, the words becoming their own image.
Here’s to creativity as a form of resilience during these most difficult times.
